Did you know that there is a hidden section in your Instagram where all your unseen photos and videos are stored? These are the drafts. While most people probably don’t even know about this section, some users are taking advantage of it for their own good. After all, it helps them save storage space in the long run. But if you have finished editing a photo or video and no longer need to keep it as a draft, here’s how you can delete them on Instagram.
How To Delete Drafts On Instagram?
- Open the Instagram app.
- Tap on your profile icon at the bottom of the screen and select Profile from the drop-down menu.
- The profile page will open up, tap on Edit Profile from the top right of your screen.
- Scroll down to find ‘Drafts’ and then tap on it to open up a new menu where you can delete all your drafts at once or individually by deleting draft photos or videos for example.
- To delete all drafts, tap on Delete Drafts under ‘Drafts’ in the main menu which will prompt you to confirm that you want to delete all the drafts at once. You can also tap on Delete Drafts next to each draft photo or video if you want to individually delete them instead of deleting them all at once in one go.
- Another way is by going back to your profile page and tapping on Edit Profile again, scrolling down again, and then tapping on Delete Drafts next to ‘Drafts’ in this menu as well as individual photos and videos that you wish to delete instead of deleting them altogether.
- If you want to view a particular draft, simply tap into it from this list using a finger swipe left or right until a small preview icon appears beside it when viewing it from this list so that you can see what it contains before deleting it completely though I recommend leaving these for now since they are often worth keeping for other reasons even if they are not so useful. You can also tap on Edit Profile, scroll down and tap on a specific draft to view it.
- To delete a draft, simply tap into it from this list using a finger swipe left or right until the preview icon disappears.
- Once you have deleted all your drafts, you will no longer be able to view them from the ‘Drafts’ menu in your profile and you’ll need to go back to Edit Profile again and delete them individually instead of deleting them all at once again which is what I recommend when you’ve finished editing photos and videos that you don’t need anymore.
- When you’re done deleting all the drafts, tap on Done and then tap on Done again to save your changes. You can repeat this process at any time if you accidentally delete one of your drafts for some reason.
- If you want to view a particular draft again, simply tap into it from this list using a finger swipe left or right until the preview icon appears again so that you can see what it contains before deleting it completely though I recommend leaving these for now since they are often worth keeping for other reasons even if they are not so useful.

Deleting A Draft On iOS

- Go to Settings > Account > Tap on the three dots in the top right corner of your screen.
- Scroll down and tap Manage draft posts and videos. 4. Select the photos or videos you want to delete by swiping them left or right, then tap Delete in the top right corner of your screen when you’re done selecting those you want to delete.
- Tap Delete post, then confirm by tapping Confirm once more, and all of your selected photos or videos will be deleted from Instagram’s servers within a few minutes after that.
Deleting Multiple Drafts At Once
- Open up your Instagram app.
- Tap on the three-line icon in the upper left corner to open the menu.
- Select the option of Settings from the drop-down list.
- Scroll down to find and tap on Drafts at the bottom of your screen, as shown below:
- Tap on “Deleted drafts” in order to expand this section as shown above and see all your drafts that are stored there right now, including those you have deleted previously (if any). You can also see photos or videos that you have marked as deleted in this section as well, which is useful if you are looking for something specific among your draft photos or videos.
- Tap on “Move to trash” in order to delete all those drafts at once so they will be permanently deleted from Instagram along with their original photo or video files (which may take a while depending on how many photos or videos you have). Note: If you delete multiple drafts at a time, it will only delete them from your Instagram app but not from your phone’s memory altogether so make sure that you do not delete these photos or videos from your phone’s memory when deleting them from Instagram because doing so may cause issues with syncing and uploading content between devices again later on if you do not want to lose these photos or videos already uploaded to other social media apps like Facebook, Twitter, etc.
- After deleting them all, you can re-upload them on Instagram or any other social media app of your choice.

Wrapping Up
The draft section is a useful feature that allows you to save photos and videos that you want to publish on your feed at a later date. While most people don’t even know about this section, it can be helpful in certain situations. That being said, if you have finished editing a photo or video and no longer need to keep it as a draft, you can delete it by following the instructions above.
